Product Updates for SAP Business Application Studio – September Edition
Dear community,
In the last weeks, several new features were released for SAP Business Application Studio supporting you in developing great business applications. I’m excited to introduce some of those new features to you.
Auto-Subscription for SaaS Enablement
In the August edition of our release information, I announced that SAP Business Application Studio now supports you in developing multitenant (SaaS) applications. With the latest update, we introduced further improvements for the SaaS application subscription and un-subscription processes. SAP Business Application Studio now automatically creates application routes and maps routes after the subscription of a SaaS consumer. In addition, it assists in un-mapping and removing routes when users unsubscribe. Thus, from an end-user point of view the generated SaaS applications can now offer auto-subscribing/un-subscribing. This streamlines the SaaS application management experience and by this provides you with even greater convenience and efficiency.
For further information, see Enabling Multitenancy.
Removal of the Project Home Page
You probably have already realized the change: Since a while, the Storyboard is the new landing page of SAP Business Application Studio. It provides you a graphical overview of your application components, as well as the connections between them. Now, the project home page, which was still available in parallel, has been removed. All the actions that were available on the home page can now be performed from the Storyboard’s list view or from the graphical view. In addition to the actions known from the project home page you will find that the Storyboard provides lots of great additional features helping you to easily understand large, complex projects. For further information on the Storyboard, read this blog post of my colleague Rupa Maity: Storyboard: the new landing page in Full Stack Application with Productivity Tools dev space | SAP Blogs
Two new features of the storyboard, which came with the latest release are:
- From the Storyboard, you can now perform a search from the list view or graphical view. This helps you to quickly locate elements of your application in the Storyboard.

- From the Storyboard, you can now delete application components. If there are dependencies, you can review them before continuing with the deletion. This further improves developer productivity.

SAP Business One as New System Type in the Service Center
The Service Center provides a central entry point to explore services from various service providers. With the latest release of SAP Business Application Studio, you can now add an SAP Business One system to your SAP Business Application Studio subaccount when choosing the SAP System Service Provider. Adding this system enables you to create an SAP Business Technology Platform application consuming an SAP Business One service. Please note the following:
- You have to use SAP Business One 10.0 Feature Package (FP) 2305 to be able to add your SAP Business One system.
- Only No Authentication and Basic Authentication are supported as authentication methods.
