Optimizing Performance Improvement with the Latest Goal Management in SuccessFactors

Introduction:

We developed a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) for our customer during a recent multi-country Performance and Goals implementation project. Through careful consideration of the latest goal management features, we have developed a comprehensive plan that is both easy to implement and highly effective in driving performance improvements.

Customer Request:

One of the challenges we faced was capturing Follow-Up Updates in the PIP. Unfortunately, we were unable to incorporate the features of CPM (Activities, Discussion Topics) directly into the PIP form.

Investigation:

We explored various functionalities that could potentially achieve this requirement. After considering the features and functionality in Performance and Goals, we agreed that creating a table in the PIP Goal Plan and linking it to the performance form would meet the requirement but also simplify the process of capturing information directly into the PIP form.

Design:

The configuration of the PIP was executed with a best practice approach and customer-specific fields. To facilitate the tracking of updates, a table was incorporated into the plan, which is presented in a user-friendly manner on the form. The table’s intuitive design allows for easy follow-up updates, ensuring that the goal remains up-to-date and relevant.

The shift towards continuous performance measurement facilitated by the SuccessFactors performance solution represents a change that many individuals within organizations would welcome. Though formal reviews remain a requirement, employing CPM features can benefit both employees and managers alike, allowing them to effectively record and recall important moments, both of achievement and difficulty, while minimizing the possibility of forgetting critical information. This approach helps maintain a complete record of an employee’s performance and can serve as a useful tool for both employees and managers to review and improve upon their work.

Our performance improvement plan, using the latest goal management in SuccessFactors, offers a highly effective solution for driving performance improvements at any organization.
