This is the SAP Developer News for the 11th of April, 2024. Hands on SAP Dev is a live stream show brought to you by the Developer Advocates. A show that’s been running since January 2019 and a show that has a focus on curiosity driven collaborative learning by doing. Over the years, that’s amounted to a lot of learning on many developer-focused topics. Some of you regulars may already know, but others might not. So we wanted to let you know that recently we’ve been running a Back to Basics series on CAP Node.js, and we’re coming to our 10th episode in that series. It’s especially for beginners, who are all welcome, along with everyone else of course. If you’re curious about how to get started with CAP and to learn about the fundamentals, this is the series for you. The live streams are always on Fridays at 0800 UK, which is UTC plus one right now. And you can catch up on all the replays of the previous episodes by watching them in this playlist. They’re all here on the SAP Developers YouTube channel. Have fun and stay curious.

Hi Builders, I wanted again to remind you of this month’s community challenge which is on SAP Build apps. Week 2 is now available and the link is in the show notes below. This week’s challenge dives into formulas and my colleague Daniel will help you understand the power of formulas and how to create them from scratch using the formula editor. So make sure you keep up to date with the tasks. Also if you can’t get enough of learning more about SAP Build please check out the latest openSAP free course. It’s on how to transform your business process with SAP Signavio and SAP Build. Over 5 weeks it will take you through how to analyse business processes using SAP Signavio, automating business processes using SAP Build Process Automation as well as creating front-end applications with SAP Build apps and Graph. Again, the link is in the show notes below. Happy learning, Builders.

Hola, SAP developers. The developer advocacy has been running a few projects the last couple of months and there are more coming your way. This week, the CAP/RAP Roadshow starts. Tom and Rich will be going through different cities in Europe. So for example, Amsterdam, Bucharest, Leverkusen, Paris, and finalizing the roadshow in Madrid. They might have a special surprise for us next week. Apart from that, we have a couple of codejams running in Valencia and Spain as well, and the first instance of the event-driven integration codejam has been scheduled for early May as well in Madrid. Apart from that, we also have CodeJams covering machine learning in HANA. There’s one in Romania, for example, and there’s also another CodeJam focusing on SAPUI5 and Fiori elements. So this is a bit for everyone for all the topics that you’re interested in, for example. So make sure to check out the CodeJam events page that I’m including the link in the description below so that you end up finding out where the next in-person event will take place. Happy learning.

I would like to highlight three events hosted by our product teams. The first event is “Discovery Day, the Future of Planning and Analytics”, scheduled for April 17th. Utilizing the flexible simulations in the SAP Analytics Cloud, you can assess various strategic options and proactively guide your organization. This Discovery Day offers an opportunity to learn from top planning experts about specific actions to take, the strategies being implemented, and how various companies, including SAP, have addressed these challenges. During this presentation, you will gain insights into SAP internal planning processes, transformation strategy, and current projects. The second virtual event is the What’s New in SAP Datasphere in Q1. It took place this week, but if you missed it, make sure to watch the recording and preview slides that were presented. Please verify the dates for upcoming quarterly What’s New webinars to ensure you don’t miss them. If you are currently working on a project where you are considering SAP DataSphere for your system environment, you might want to participate in the new pilot expert-guided implementation or “EGI” on SAP DataSphere fundamentals. This is a part of the SAP Enterprise Support Advisory Council and will take place in May. Check the links in the description of this news episode.

Did you know you can easily add BTP CLI to a DevSpace in SAP Business Application Studio? Download the Linux AMD64 version of the Tarball from the SAP Development Tools website. Once downloaded, drag it into the Explorer part of your DevSpace, into your home directory. Have a look inside the Tarball and note the location of the binary. Create a bin directory and make sure that bin directory is always in your search path and then start a new shell so you can test that new path list. Extract the binary into that new bin directory. And bingo. You can now run the BTP CLI in your DevSpace.
