Building My SAP Career – Seeking Guidance

Hello everyone,

I’m new here, and I’m looking to build relationships with SAP partners, customers, and other SAP professionals to get to know the ecosystem a bit better. I am Rashad, currently learning SAP implementation project tasks to deploy and extend SAP S/4HANA, and experiencing the SAP Business Technology Platform.

I am currently studying for my first certification [SAP Certified Associate – Implementation Consultant – SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition]. I decided to embark on this journey due to my interest in participating as a member of an SAP S/4HANA implementation project and building solutions using the capabilities that SAP BTP offers to extend and personalize SAP applications.

So far, I have dedicated significant time and effort to understanding and trying to master the concepts behind [SAP Cloud Identity, SAP Central Business Configuration, SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Fiori Launchpad], and I’ve made some great progress so far, but also feel it’s time to reach out to some veterans for real-world insights.

I wanted to share a little about my learning journey so far. With a college degree in finance and a strong passion for learning technology, I have spent 5 years honing my skills in various business processes and systems. I have been actively involved in digital transformation initiatives in my country, leveraging technology to optimize financial operations for various SMEs. Additionally, my skill set extends to [English (B2) and German (B1) language proficiency, Cloud Solution (simple architectures using AWS/Azure), Linux, and programming knowledge]. I am particularly interested in learning new tools and innovative technology, and I am eager to build on what I have so far in a way that makes sense for the modern SAP ecosystem.

While technical skills are crucial in our industry, I also realize that soft skills play a significant role in shaping successful professionals. I pride myself on my problem-solving, collaboration, leadership, flexibility, and adaptability.

I’m looking for folks with experience in the SAP FICO module to share some insights on what it’s like to actually implement it in the field.

What was your first project like? How long did it take?

What is the team dynamic like during one of your projects? Is it collaborative or more “siloed” with each expert working on what they know?

What part or feature of the SAP FICO module was most challenging to get working on the customer side?

What is the troubleshooting process like? Can you share a specific example of a troubleshooting scenario from a recent project?

I’d love to connect further and talk about your careers thus far with SAP and understand how you got to where you are today.

Best regards,

Rashad SAYED
