I have spotted an influx of spam posts in SAP Community. They are still ongoing. The current countermeasures, e.g. moderators notifications, work, but they don’t work fast or efficiently enough.
I had a similar problem on Polish SAP Bulletin Board that I manage. I have introduced a simple rule that effectively resolved spam issues:
- the first 5 posts of a newly registered user have to be manually approved by a moderator
- if a new user posts a spam, the user is immediately deleted and their email put on a blacklist
This approach is very straightforward but it works. Five posts is enough to see if a user is legitimate and if their posts are of value. Spammers won’t go to lengths of creating five goods posts, before posting their junk.
Why don’t we implement a similar procedure for SAP Community?
