Introducing myself

Hello!  My name is Jennifer and I’m a Senior Technical Consultant with SAP Concur.  My relationship with Concur started back in July of 2014 when I started working at a university in the Pacific Northwest, USA.  At that time, I had to ask what “T&E” stood for!  I had worked in finance for 15 years, took a year off to be with my son before he started school, and was looking for a job in the finance field.  Never in my dreams would I have thought I’d land in a technology job.  As the Travel & Expense (-that’s T&E for short!) and Credit Card Administrator, I began my journey of learning everything I could about Concur.

My functional knowledge of Concur grew as I learned the product, the configuration, and collaborated with those within the higher ed community.  While at this university, I rewrote the credit card and expense policies.  We grew the use of our credit card program exponentially – increasing the rebate earned 10 fold.  A key to this growth was integrating the card into Concur’s system, making it easier to build expense reports, and providing leadership greater visibility into their spend.  I was also responsible for rewriting the travel and travel expense policies.  We built a Travel & Expense Office and transformed how group travel was managed.

If you’re in higher ed, you know how much of a wildcard the faculty population can be!  This is often the reason for complex workflows, Concur Request integration with Travel, and intensive reporting requirements of higher ed customers.  While at this university, we were finally able to bring the academic divisions onto Concur – approximately half the university!  This required adding Concur Request, writing a new Concur Expense policy, and a lot of training.  From start to finish, we consulted, designed, configured, tested and onboarding all the academic divisions in one year!  This was a monumental achievement!

Before leaving the university, I participated in the design and configuration of Concur Invoice.  I left just before onboarding, but the project was a success from old co-workers.

My extensive functional knowledge and understanding of the Concur configuration structure was a foundation for my move to Technical Consultant at SAP Concur.  During my projects, I like to partner with the Concur implementation team and the customer as much as possible.  I appreciate the projects where I have an opportunity to build a relationship with customers and share my experience to help them have a great user experience.  Because in the end, that is what it’s all about, making sure users have the very best experience using the Concur products.  Happy users make happy customers.  And happy customers promote SAP Concur!
