Custom development on the HANA stack (essentially HANA XSA) and real world examples

Hi All,

I’m not new to the SAP world but fairly new to this community forum. We have a need in our organization to migrate a custom Java microservice stack to “something” newer. We are considering utilizing the SAP Hana platform (as a technical platform) to refactor and replace the existing code and utilize it ongoing. This is all custom code not related nor interfacing with any SAP objects (database or code). The existing (Java) microservice is very robust, scalable, and serves high volume use cases (it is hit by our website to calculate tax on each order multiple times per order). My question is – has anyone built a similar development in the SAP Hana space and has successfully been working in a production environment for some time? I’m assuming this would be something such as a HANA XSA app but doesn’t need to be…but that makes sense to me. We currently are on a S/4Hana (on-prem – AWS) stack as well as a separate SAP CAR instance. We would like to know if this is a viable technical platform to move to from our current Java stack. Any perspectives are very much appreciated! Thanks.

-Matt
